What makes iPod special?

There are tons of music players out there from generic “Fabrique De China” types to Sony Network Walkman, Creative Zen etc. What makes people want to own an iPod? is it Apple’s marketting? the design or other stigma attached to it? Best answer definetly deserves a 10.

I’d say that marketing is definitely part of it … being first to make an impression in people’s minds always counts, check out the popularity of the Windows OS.

But here are some other reasons:

- The iPod is available in a variety of sizes and with a variety of functions (though music is common to all).
- The iPod works very well with iTunes, as they were built for each other. Do a Google search to see how much trouble people have just simply syncing music to their players with software like WMP10, or even the software that came with their players.
- The iPod interface is very well designed, intuitive, easy to use, and visually pleasing. A lot of people would say the same for iTunes.
- The iPod comes with a huge number of accessories.
