Can I charge my ipod nano with my Kodak camera wall adapter?

I have an ipod nano (4th generation) and a Kodak Easyshare Digital Camera (M340). The camera came with a wall adapter. I was experimenting and discovered that my ipod cord fits into the adapter. I looked on the Apple website and I refuse to pay $30 for an additional adapter.

Would it be safe to charge my ipod with my camera adapter? Thanks for your help
