My Ipod is showing a Big Red X and I cant put it into Disk mode. What can i do?

It’s an 80GB 6th Gen Ipod. And It’s been in the ‘Big Red X’ State for quite a while now.

I’ve tried putting it into Disk Mode but it will just keep returning to the Big red X.

I can’t ship it to Apple to have it fixed since I have no money for that.

What do I do?
